There’s just something about the coast that drives people nuts. They flock to it on a yearly basis in search of warm sand, soothing waves and bright rays of healing sunlight. I suppose I can understand the appeal. For some of these vacationers it’s just another trip, but for others it becomes a permanent move. These are the folks who seek ocean beach real estate. Now I know what the first thought that popped into your head was. Massive dollar signs! Did I hit that one on the nose or what? Well, if you did think high prices, then you’d be generally correct. Daytona Beach is one of the most popular areas and it has a varied mix of activities and places to see. There are 23 miles of white beaches and a large number of hotels and motels cope with the rising population during summer. Fishing and water sports are popular, including kayaking, surfing and parasailing. Boat tours explore the area and bikes are available for hire. The historic city architecture is in the old Southern style. Nightlife is lively with international cuisine restaurants, casinos and nightclubs. Shopping has everything from designer clothes boutiques to flea markets.

The summer months are such a great time to get away. When the hot weather hits many people decide to go to the beaches and to cabins by lakes. This is the booming time for resort owners and camp ground managers. The airlines also fill most of the flights during this time. My husband and I no longer have children in the home so we do not have to work around school schedules. Because of this we have found that if we plan our vacations for the early part of May of the end of September we still have great weather, but we do not have to contend with the crowds or the peak season prices.
