Natural Insect Repellent

RAID! This is likely the most popular insect repellant/obliterator of all time. The commercials were seriously mainstream when I was growing up. I’m not sure what happened to all the hype, but I will say that the products are effective. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve used Raid bug sprays in my life. Hey, I know what the deal is. Maybe people have reverted back to the old-school natural insect repellent solutions. There are plenty to concoct in your own home. If you’re not familiar with this concept, let me fill you in. Who knows? It just might save you some cash this summer on bug spray. Continue reading →

Many cities have a strong musical tradition belonging to a specific genre and none more so than Nashville Tennessee. It has been considered the capital of country music for many years and the recording, live concerts and music publishing done there has boosted the economy. The city receives many tourists each year and there is plenty to do for country music fans and non-fans alike.

Major stars are inducted into the Hall of Fame with each one commemorated by a plaque and brief biography. One of the earliest inductees was the legendary Hank Williams. New York City events

Though I do not live in New York City, that many times I like to know what is going on. It would take me about four or five hours to drive there, but that does not mean I wouldnít do so for the right event. It seems there are always New York City events going on, and many of them are of some interest to me. The city is just close enough so that I may travel there if I want to, but far enough away where it doesnít affect my daily life. Though I love to visit the city, I moved a way from a city because it all became too much for me at one point.

It seems that there are a multitude of New York City events from which to choose every single day of the week. New York City is a large, vibrant city that has people from all races, ethnic backgrounds, and religious affiliations. This can make for some pretty interesting events. In many movies, it looks like agony, and sometimes the rides really are unpleasant. Although This image of bus travel is quite popular with a lot of people, it is not really the whole story. Bus companies have really advanced their business practices in the past few years, and there are more options for bus tours them ever before. Continue reading →

American Embassy

An embassy tends to roll along without anything newsworthy happening around it, with the exception of those caught up in conflicts, terrorism and spy stories. One of the more colorful has been the American Embassy situated in Grosvenor Square, London. It was the focal point for anti-Vietnam War protests in the 1960s. There were protests in the US, Europe and Britain at the time. One particular demonstration in London from March 1968 stands out. Continue reading →

Purchase Airline Ticket

Transportation is imperative in the world we inhabit. In fact, most of us need to commute somewhere each and every day. It may be 20 minutes down the road or a whopping 90 minutes into the city. It all depends on where you live and where you’re employed. And let’s not forget the countless other reasons we have to leave the house. In short, we rely on our vehicles quite regularly. But let’s not forget about air travel. Some folks rely on flying everyday for their careers. The rest of us resort to this method of travel for vacations and yearly trips. While the speed of air travel is ideal, airline ticket purchases now days are not so cheap. And sadly they continue to rise.

Do you recall your last flight? I certainly remember mine because it was only last month. I took a four day trip to Myrtle Beach from Cincinnati and it wasn’t cheap. My round-trip ticket cost me a whopping 780 dollars. YUCK! That’s way too much for a trip such as this. However, clearly with airline ticket purchases it depends on when you buy them. Timing is everything. Now, if you’re like most of us these days, then you probably rely on the Internet for deals and specials. Let’s face it; it’s easy and convenient to book a flight via the web. You just hop online and BAM, it’s all taken care of. Then there’s the dark side of online airline ticket purchases. First of all you have a number of vying websites. There’s travelocity.com, cheaptickets.com, travelation.com, expedia.com and several more. So what you basically need to do is compare them all. Search for the flight you need on each of these travel websites, and pinpoint the best current deal. It’s a bit of a pain, but doesn’t take too long. Then there’s the time issue. When you research airline ticket purchases is always crucial. One day can make a huge difference. I was shocked to see a 400 dollar plane ticket skyrocket to 670 overnight. As ridiculous as this sounds, it’s still our reality. Continue reading →

Global Travel

In my opinion, there is nothing better than global travel. International travel has been my passion since I was very young. You see, my parents were both diplomats . As such, I grew up in a very cosmopolitan environment. Sometimes, it was a lot of pressure. I always had to keep up appearances, and I was always competing with some very sophisticated kids. Nonetheless, my global travels really worked to make me a better citizen of the world. Nowadays, I have quite the international outlook. I can tell you the best restaurants in a dozen major metropolises all over the world. I could explain the political situation in practically any country on Earth. The Internet has helped a little bit as have libraries, but most of the credit goes to my global travels.

A lot of people think that you need a lot of money to do world travel, but this is not the case. Particularly if you come from an English-speaking country, you can actually do global travel while spending very little money. There are so many places where they urgently need English teachers, you see, that there is no reason to save up before you start your global travels. All you really need money for is airlines tickets. Finding cheap international flights can save you a lot of money. Finding a hotel package once you get there, or staying in a hostel, is also crucial if you’re traveling on a budget. After all, you will need enough money to get on your feet before you start working.

Of course, there is something to be said for just relaxing on your global travel trip. There are a lot of different approaches to taking an international vacation. People usually are either planners or explorers. Planners plan out every aspect. They are the type of people to take holiday cruises with tour books for every stopover. They know exactly what they want to see, how long they can take to see it, and what priority it is. Other people, however, take a much more laid-back approach to global travel. They would rather just relax and take every day as it comes. Continue reading →

Five star Hotels

Traveling tends to be one of the things that most people will say they want to do more of. People like to see different parts of the world from where they live. They want to visit friends and relatives that are located in different areas, and travel is one way of taking a break from the routines of day to day life. Although travel is looked at as a favorite thing to do when on vacation, it does have many stresses associated with it.

There is a great deal of planning that goes into traveling. If it is a family vacation you need to agree on what destination you will go to. You also need to decide on what mode of transportation you will be using. If you are not driving you need to make reservations and for most people, find the best deal so it is not too costly. Over night accommodations must also be booked. Some people feel that they need to stay in five star hotels when they are traveling. These are top of the line hotels that have been given the highest ratings, and the usually have a high cost to go along with this rating. The five star hotels are rated in different categories. The high rating many not always mean they have the most amenities; some times that rating is given because the hotel is on the historical register and has been well maintained. The five start hotels usually specialize in service for their guests. Small touches that are welcoming or pampering in nature. This is great, however probably not needed if you are traveling on a budget. For most people a hotel room is a space that very little time is spent in, especially if you are on a sight seeing vacation. Continue reading →

Travel in Dublin

Being voted the friendliest city in Europe in 2007 is a great advertisement for Dublin travel. The capital has also got better crime figures than any other European capital city. The city is a vibrant mix of lively nightlife, history and culture. Many British people go over for the weekend but there is such a lot to do in a short time.

There are many elegant buildings in the city and Dublin Castle is one of the most imposing. The medieval castle was extended into a fortified building in the 18th century and housed the British Government until their rule ended in 1922. Today, it is a tourist attraction and conference center. Continue reading →

Camping Holidays

One of the biggest sources of unhappiness in our society is that people think that you can’t live well without having a lot of money. Because of this, a lot of folks work long hours so that they can spend their money on extravagant vacations. They will find ways to even make camping holidays expensive, taking tours to exotic locations instead of enjoying the camping sites around them. The truth is that with a little basic outdoors knowledge, you can go to some beautiful campsites no matter where you live. You can enjoy nature, see some spectacular views, and feel good about the fact that you’re saving money while doing it.

Of course, it is easy for me to say this. I grew up taking camping holidays. My parents never went on those expensive camping holiday trips ñ the ones guided by tour guides in foreign countries. They knew enough about the woods that they could get around pretty much anywhere they wanted to go. We even took camping holidays to exotic destinations like Australia and New Zealand. Basically, the cost was low no matter where we went. All we had to do was pay for transportation, and the rest would practically be free.

Camping Cots

I have a love/hate relationship with camping. I love to be outdoors, and I love the idea of spending that time with friends and family away from modern distractions, but the idea of sleeping on the ground is not something that gets me excited. This comes from past experience, and the knowledge that my back doesnít like my bed on some nights. Laying on the ground to sleep is something that guarantees that I will be in a lot of pain the next day. Recently, someone suggested that I look into a camper, which I wonít do, or perhaps I should consider getting camping cots for the few times we wish to go camping.

I have to admit that the idea of camping cots opens up the world of camping for me again. I donít think I would enjoy camping as much if I were in a camper, unless there is bad weather or perhaps the nights are very cold. However, camping cots would ensure that I could rest much better at night, and that would mean that I feel well enough to enjoy myself during the day. This would mean I would be more likely to get excited about a trip, and that I would also be more willing to plan more of them. Continue reading →

Those healing rays of warm sun, that soft soothing sand pressing up between our toes, and the gentle ocean waves setting our minds at ease. Yes sir, it’s truly hard to beat that level of R&R. Now the only thing you have to figure out is which beach you prefer to jaunt off to. Continue reading →
